Preferences: Copy Content

Use the Copy Content to Course Preferences to define what types of content Instructors and Teaching Assistants (TAs) are allowed to copy between courses in which they are enrolled. You can copy content from the Content Library, Question Library, and My Courses sections of a course or from a Shared Library.

Copy Content To This Course

In Copy Content To This Course section you set whether or not instructors/TAs can copy content into the current course. If this setting is enabled, the Change content source button is available in the Course Content tool (Add Content from Library and Manage Question Library tabs). Under the heading Allow Instructors/TAs to copy content into this course from another courses in which they are enrolled two options display:

In Copy Content From This Course section you specify what types of content (if any) users will be able to copy from the current course. You also select how you want to restrict the movement of content.

After you have made your selections, click the button at the top of bottom of the page to save your preferences.

Locking and Unlocking Preference Settings

If you do not want any program admins, instructors, or teaching assistants to change a preference in the Programs, Templates, and Sections that will be derived from this Master Course, you can lock setting preferences by clicking the corresponding Lock icons. Locking prevents other users from changing the setting preferences.

Items shown with an open lock icon are not locked. Items shown with a closed lock icon are locked.

Editing Contextual Help

Users can view instructional Help text for each Preference setting by mouse hovering or clicking the corresponding icon. You can edit this instructional Help text by clicking the Edit link. To edit Help text, complete the following steps:

  1. Click on the icon corresponding to each of the preferences.

  2. The instructional help text and the Edit link are displayed.

  3. Click Edit to open the Content Editor.

  4. Make the necessary edits to the text.

  5. Click Save and Close to save the changes.
